Time to Get Your Finances In Order
Free service being offered

The last days of summer are waning and thoughts are turning to "back to school" and getting reorganized. When was the last time you reviewed all of your important documents to make sure they are up to date? Do you know where all of your documents are, including insurance policies, wills, trust agreements and powers of attorney? Does your spouse or trusted advisor also know?
Alta Vista Benefits is now offering a free service to get your personal documents and finances in order called the "Living Balance Sheet". The Living Balance Sheet is a tool that enables you to store all of your important documents online in a completely secure place. It is an amazing process that helps you to get organized and possibly discover things you forgot that you had.
If you would like more information, you can see a free product demo at:

Did you know?
Taking stock of your HSA performance

HSA accounts are a type of investment account and a great way to set aside money that is needed to cover medical expenses in retirement. If you have an HSA account in place, this is a good time to evaluate the performance of your account. What kind of interest are you getting? Do you have investment options with your account to improve its performance?
Many health carriers are now offering integrated HSA accounts that have no fees associated with them. These HSA accounts also offer investment choices after the dollar amount in your account reaches a specified level. If your carrier does not offer that, let us help you shop around.
For carriers that don't offer integrated HSA's, First Horizon has an HSA with fees of only $2.50 per month. That may be lower that you are paying already. You can find out more information, please visit Alta Vista Benefits under the Services link.
Just as a reminder, if you are over the age of 55, you can contribute an additional $900 to your HSA in 2008. Once you reach the age of 65, you can no longer contribute money to an HSA account.

Did you know?
Monitoring your Credit Report
It is more important than ever for you to monitor your credit report and make sure you know your credit score. So many decisions are made from this information -- including your rates on car insurance and mortgage rates. Misinformation can negatively affect your financial future unless you closely monitor and correct what is reported.
Your credit report includes all of the payment history on your accounts, any requests that companies have made about you, evictions and other legal information, medical bills and information about credit you have established with third parties. This information is obtained through three credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
To track your credit and ensure it is accurate, it is recommended that you can obtain a free copy of your credit report and review it at least once per year. Each of the credit bureaus has a web site and a phone number for you to request a copy of your report:
Experian: www.experian.com or 888-397-3742
Equifax: www.equifax.com or 800-685-1111
TransUnion: www.transunion.com or 800-888-4213
